How to play Table Tennis

Take a moment with Table Tennis before moving to another game. Reach eleven points with a two-point lead. Check the relevant rule before repeating a move. Begin with the solo vs computer mode shown on the page. Choose a clear next step rather than rushing through the instructions.

rally/service model, win-by-two and alternating deuce service.

Notice the feedback

Watch the feedback after an action. A message can explain whether the input was accepted or whether a rule needs attention. Make the next step deliberately.

Your goal

Reach eleven points with a two-point lead. An attractive position is not enough unless the goal is met. Try to explain the aim in your own words.

Step by step

  1. Serve.
  2. Move the lower paddle under the ball.
  3. Hit after the bounce near your baseline.
  4. A missed return gives a point.

Controls

Pointer/paddle buttons; Hit / return; Space serves or hits. On a smaller screen, keep the active part of the board within view. Avoid pressing the same control repeatedly while a move is being processed.

A useful example

An early hit is rejected; wait while positioning the paddle. Your next round may have a different position, so inspect it before acting. Notice the change in the playing area.

Watch out for this

The ball-flight model is timing-based, not full tournament physics. Take a moment to reassess the position before continuing. Watch the feedback after an action. A message can explain whether the input was accepted or whether a rule needs attention.
